Tyota Kirloskar Motor, a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corp. and India's Kirloskar Group, said it suspended production at its facility on Mondays and Fridays from April 25 and June 4, due to supply problems after Japan 11 March earthquake and tsunami.
The Bangalore-based Toyota Kirloskar, which has a production capacity of approximately 150,000 units per year, will operate at about 30 percent of its normal capacity during this period, he said in a statement sent Friday. Toyota Kirloskar makes brands such as the Corolla Altis, Innova and Fortuner in India.
"We intend to restore normal operations as soon as possible," said Toyota Kirloskar Director General Hiroshi Nakagawa, but gave no timetable.
Toyota Motor Corp., a 89 percent equity in Indian joint venture, said in Tokyo that the production will begin to accelerate in July in August in Japan and abroad, with full recovery is that in November or December.
