Supreme Court cancels bails of PwC partner Gopalakrishnan

The Supreme Court Thursday canceled leases granted to Price Waterhouse partner Gopalakrishnan Subramani and Satyam internal auditor VS.Prabhakar Gupta, ordering them to surrender, April 30.

Bench, where Justice BS.Chauhan and Justice P.Sathasivam has withdrawn his bail and directed to surrender to the pain of that period, the central investigating agency shall take steps to stop them, reports PTI. Apex Court, who was 18 in April was in order, said that with the withdrawal of the security of the accused after looking into allegations chargesheet filed by CBI.

The orders were transferred to the CBI plea seeking cancellation of the rescue granted Gopalakrishnan, the global partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Gupta, Head of Internal Audit scam-hit firm Satyam Computer. The CBI had challenged the bail granted to Gopalakrishnan and Gupta, that the defendant is accused of Rs 14,000 crore, Satyam scam of Andhra Pradesh High Court in June 2010.

His request was rejected by the lawyers appearing for Gopalakrishnan and Gupta, who argued that the investigating agency has dealt with the apex court ten months after the order approved by the High Court. They further argued that the Supreme Court had already given a bond to one of the auditors PWC-Satyam same Srinivas Talluri the CBI is trying to send another auditor Gopalkrishna behind bars.

The CBI, however, rejected this sentence was a different role and Srinivas Talluri Gopalkrishnan in the case of Satyam.

"Talluri was (is) for a period of one year. He just followed Gopalkrishnan. Gopalkrishnan must take excessive remuneration from the company (Satyam). He also took the charges for other services... may be that the money was to to help (Raju) conspiracy, "said the Other Solicitor General HP Rawal appear in the CBI.

Bench has also been agreed, and said, "and (Talluri and Gopalkrishnan) are in different situations. It may not be a precedent." Supreme Court on October 26 last year, was also withdrawn guarantees granted to B.Ramalinga Raju, founder and chairman of Satyam Computer (now Mahindra Satyam), and five others.
